If you are looking for recommendations then go from top to bottom until you find something you haven't watched before. This should be the default order, unless you pressed a button or if I fucked something up (likely). I will add some starter pack images and infographics soon. These reviews are for the whole series, unless I have an individual review for each seperate listing.
10.0	gdgd Fairies 2 (2013)	gdgd Fairies 2 (2013)	(2025/00/00): They actually made the second season even better than the first. I am not even sure if this qualifies as an anime, as it's mostly 3DCG, but if does then it is one of the best. When you think of surreal media it is usually in the horror or a horror adjacent genre, but the closest conventional genre you could assign to this would be comedy.
9.9	Azumanga Daiou The Animation (2002)	Azumanga Daiou The Animation (2002)	(2025/00/00): If your favorite part of pulp fiction was the dialogue scenes, then this may become your favorite anime. Nothing happens in this anime. I think the highest stakes event that happens is that Chiyo-chan graduates from high school (spoiler alert). Also a running gag in the show is their pedophilic teacher tries to molest them repeatably, and its played for laughs. Japan moment.
9.8	Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (2010)	The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (2010)	(2025/11/20): Damn. Watch the first 2 seasons in broadcast order then watch this movie, it doesn't work as a standalone. Don't lookup any information on this series, just watch it.
9.7	Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (2024)	Gushing over Magical Girls (2024)	(2025/00/00): You don't see a penis in this show so it's technically not porn. This borderline hentai series has the best story of any mahou shoujo anime. So yeah I am watching this one for the plot. If you live in a bathtub with your family and can only watch anime on the family TV in front of everyone, then maybe avoid this one, but I thought the characters felt like they had a lot of depth to them.
9.61	Oniichan wa Oshimai! (2023)	Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister! (2023)	(2025/00/00): Transgender propaganda. The only part of this that I didn't like were both of the creepy older sister characters. Other than that it is a funny slice of life that focuses on a college age male turned into JC age female, who has a chance to go back in life and do things right.
9.6	Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 (2021)	Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 (2021)	(2025/00/00): Even if you didn't like the first 36 episodes for some reason, it's worth it just to get to this part of the story. Do not spoil it for yourself by trying to get more information, just go watch it, after watching the first 3 parts first.
9.5	Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (2021)	Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (2021)	(2025/00/00): What a stupid fucking name for an anime, in english and in japanese. Jobless Honkey Desu. This anime will make every other isekai seem shitty in comparison. There was only a single moment of bizarre 3DCG wheat in a field but, other than that, the visuals are some of the best of this century. They take the important parts of the story seriously, without those fucking terrible marvel tier quips that every isekai has now. The tone of this one reminds me of a lot of early 2000s anime. Degenerate.
9.49	Devilman: Youchou Sirene-hen (1990)	Devilman: The Demon Bird (1990)	(2025/12/10): Everything in this one is an improvement from the first OVA, but holy shit this is dark. This is one of the nicest looking cel animations I have ever seen. The motion is smooth and consistent with no immersion breaking over-animation and no 70s style choppiness. It looks like it was mostly done on 2s and 3s. The coloring is nicely done and avoids the oversaturated, tacky look that a lot of cheaper cel animation had, which is notable because this is a home release. It still suffers from having such a short run time.
9.45	Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (1988)	Legend of the Galactic Heroes (1988)	(2025/00/00): Some things live up to the hype. I think the only genre that isn't covered in this anime is fantasy, they even got some BL action going on. I won't spoil it beyond that though. Everything was extremely fleshed out, they actually used those 110 episodes to go deep in the plot, instead of spinning their wheels with stupid shit. I do wish there was less exposition and narration, but it was minor enough.
9.4	Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (2003)	Kino's Journey (2003)	(2025/00/00): Allegories so direct that they become surreal, Kino's dark adventure. The desaturation, the intentional lack of BGM for a lot of the scenes and the sparse dialogue give this show a very unique atmosphere that is unmistakably mid 2000s despite being in 16:9. I did not notice any terrible looking 3DCG, this whole anime looked great in terms of animation, color and visuals. The scanline filter is a strange choice to make considering most TVs in 2003 would have been CRTs, but it gives the show a unique look. skip the 2007 OVA.
9.37	Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! (2013)	WataMote: No Matter How I Look At It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular! (2013)	(2025/11/25): I think watching this show is the most I have laughed at any piece of media. There is not really an overarching plot, or a conclusive ending, but it honestly would have just been a waste of time if they had tried to force one into this show. The main character is pathetic, embarrassing and cringe, and the whole show is you laughing at the constant stream of unforced errors.
9.35	Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (2011)	Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011)	(2025/00/00): Girls doing magic with a slightly more mature plot, but tastefully done and not needlessly dark/misery porn. The characters have motivations for all of their actions. Must see for all.
9.3	Yuru Yuri (2011)	YuruYuri: Happy Go Lily (2011)	(2025/00/00): If Azumanga was so good, why didn't they make an Azumanga 2? I was kinda sad when this show ended, its like finding out your close friend is going to another middle school and they say some shit like, "oh we can still hangout outside of school." Even though you both know damn well that's not going to happen and instead you are just going to drift apart. What was I talking about again? oh yeah yuruyuri. This show is consistently good, with maybe a slight dip in the last season.
9.25	Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou (2022)	Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (2022)	(2025/00/00): Much better pacing than the first season, while keeping all of the strengths. People are exaggerating how "dark" and "depressing" the tone of this show is. Maybe if you are like 6 and can't live with seeing a fictional character die. Some people did not watch Dark Crystal or Labyrinth as kids, and it shows.
9.24	Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009)	The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)	(2025/11/20): Even with a retarded or non existant premise, god tier execution can carry a show to the top. I can see why the execution would be divisive at the least, but I am a fan of how they did it. I am not going to spoil this one any more than that. Watch it in release order.
9.23	Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2006)	The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2006)	(2025/11/18): Incoherent. I accidentally watched DVD2 first and when I went back and watched the episodes in the correct order it didn't really make a difference to the story. I finished this anime and still don't know what this show was about, what the premise was or what the genre was, but it was entertaining from start to finish.
9.22	Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (2010)	Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (2010)	(2025/00/00): This show is like if the powerpuff girls spoke japanese and had a newgrounds tier sense of humor. This is the anime equivalent of Rawhide Kobayashi, the ameriboo anime. The official release of the first season actually hurts my eyes to look at (not in a figure of speech way, like actually literally gives me a headache), so the only way I can recommend watching this is the 40GB release uploaded by DarkDream787 on Nyaa.
9.21	Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)	Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)	(2025/00/00): Peak battle shounen. Other than a very out of place shot in OP1 there is no terrible looking 3DCG. Despite the somewhat extensive episode count, there wasn't anything in the story that was noticeably filler. This show is less faithful to the manga than FMA:Brotherhood, but I think it is actually better than brotherhood, if you aren't counting the movie. This does suffer from not having a satisfying ending, but the manga wasn't finished when this anime ended, so what can you do.
9.2	gdgd Fairies (2011)	gdgd Fairies (2011)	(2025/00/00): This show is like radiation in that it is fun in small bursts, but I don't recommend sitting down and binging it all in one day. If Xavier Renegade Angel was moe, it would be called gdgd Fairies. I would actually recommend watching season 2 first, and then season 1 and the movie if you want to see more after that. There is no overarching plot in this show, except for like 2 episodes in season 2. Also, the animation is primitive and restrictive, they move like animatronics for most of S1.
9.19	gdgd Fairies Movie: tte Iu Eiga wa Dou kana...? (2014)	gdgd Fairies Movie: tte Iu Eiga wa Dou kana...? (2014)	(2025/00/00): You can watch this at any point in the series and it will make the same amount of sense. The runtime is a bit excessive, this format definitely works better as a 10 minute TV show.
9.11	Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi (2025)	A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof (2025)	(2025/00/00): Bleak and hilarious. Surreal slice of life comedy that treats life as disposable. There is some weird fetish shit that comes across as comedic. Boobmog
9.1	Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (2005)	Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (2005)	(2025/00/00): Quintessential edgy mid 2000s comedy. Extremely graphic in terms of gore, not very sexually explicit, despite being labeled as ecchi on MAL, I think there was only 1 scene where a towel dropped when she was getting out of the shower or something. Only downside is how short it is, only 6 episodes including the second OVA. Make sure your version has either 6 25~ minute episodes or 12 12 minute episodes. You have to be on amphetamines to really get the humor.
9.03	Serial Experiments Lain (1998)	Serial Experiments Lain (1998)	(2025/12/09): Quintessential techno-alienation. The strengths of this one are in the depth of emotions conveyed, not the literal plot.
9.02	Kimi no Na wa. (2016)	Your Name. (2016)	(2025/00/00): My first impression was that this was going to be some stupid tiktok influencer, MALcore type shit, but I was pleasently surprised. This is probably the best execution of the body swap premise.
9.01	Takopii no Genzai (2025)	Takopi's Original Sin (2025)	(2025/00/00): A light hearted family friendly comedy, perfect for dog lovers =^). I am glad that there are mainstream anime that aren't afraid of showing fucked up shit. This show strikes a good balance between tragic and dark comedy with takopii's commentary on the fucked up shit happening around him. They ending is genuinely infuriating (I might explain why in a full review but I don't want to spoil this show), but even still the first half of this show earned it a high spot on my list for sure.
9.0	Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (2023)	Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 (2023)	(2025/00/00): Perfect pacing, the action slows down a bit and it goes back to being primarily about the characters. The show starts to pick back up and gets really good here. This is one of the few royal academy arcs that I didn't hate in an anime. This show has a retarded and confusing naming convention, each season so far has been split up into 2 cours of 12 episodes for each cour, so this is the third cour of the series.
8.9	Sousou no Frieren (2023)	Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (2023)	(2025/00/00): Kill demons, behead demons, roundhouse kick a demon into the concrete. Very good visuals, the bad CGI is far and few between. The tone of the show is perfect, they take it seriously when they should and play it for laughs when they should. For some inexplicable reason this show has a dramatic tone shift near the end of Season 1 and it turns into the chuunin exams, ie battle shounen junk. Let's hope Season 2 has less of this and has more of the cool elf adventure shit.
8.81	Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) (2025)	There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... (2025)	(2025/00/00): The best JK Yuri I have seen so far, yuruyuri does not count. Not so degenerate that you couldn't watch it in front of other people, other than the bathtub scene.
8.8	Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi (2021)	Redo of Healer (2021)	(2025/00/00): Was getting raped part of your plan? Of course. Why does this porn anime have a better plot than 90% of regular stuff. This has a satisfying dark revenge plot that lacks conclusion in an apparent lead in to a second season that will probably never come. I would have preferred if they escalated the romance into ecchi territory, but let's not let good be the enemy of perfect or whatever that one saying is. The ending was kind of stupid and abrupt, but lets see where they go with it in Season 2.
8.7	Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 (2021)	Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 (2021)	(2025/00/00): The weakest part of the series for sure. Would have preferred if they took their time and fleshed out some of the places that they were exploring some more. Still has a lot of the strengths that Season 1 had, and it is necessary to watch this to bridge to season 2. There were only a couple of interesting moments that I remember from this cour.
8.65	Devilman: Crybaby (2018)	Devilman: Crybaby (2018)	(2025/00/00): Preserves the pulpy feel of the older debiruman series, with modern animation style and pacing. When I saw that Netflix logo at the beginning I wanted to turn this shit off, but I am glad I didn't. There is surprisingly graphic nudity in this, like early 90's OVA type shit, I think you see one of the main character's hoohah, but I don't get the impression that the nudity was meant to be sexual, I believe it was meant to be more disturbing than anything else. man man man man man man, human.
8.64	Food Court de, Mata Ashita. (2025)	See You Tomorrow at the Food Court (2025)	(2025/00/00): Genre: KFC, Slice of Chicken. If you like shows where nothing happens, but there is entertaining dialogue, then this may be the show for you. The whole show is 2 JK age friends meeting up in a mall food court and talking about the most random shit. There is a random scene where indian men catch a stray for some reason, maybe the author hates them idk.
8.6	Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015)	Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015)	(2025/00/00): Excellent movie, only reason to watch it is if you are undecided on whether you want to watch the show, as the movie in its entirety is turned into an arc in the show.
8.51	Devilman: Tanjou-hen (1987)	Devilman: The Birth (1987)	(2025/12/09): The only downside is the pacing, if this was 45 minutes longer it would been much better off for it. It is worth watching this one just to get to The Demon Bird OVA alone.
8.5	Naruto (2002)	Naruto (2002)	(2025/00/00): A sampler pack of Early 2000's anime genres and tropes, with the perfect pacing. Japanese Fantasy excels when it focuses on local East Asian mysticism and philosophies. If this was set in Medieval Western Europe with DnD magic I would have given it a 4/10. This is a show for everyone.
8.499	Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai (2019)	Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (2019)	(2025/12/22): This is not a standalone movie, but it perfectly concludes season 1. If you didn't cry to this movie at least 7 times then you may be gay, I don't know any other way to put it.
8.49	Youjo Senki (2017)	Saga of Tanya the Evil (2017)	(2025/00/00): Ugly Girls doing Ugly Things. Excellent story and dialogue. Character design is distractingly ugly. Wait a minute, this was made by Nut.
8.48	Youjo Senki Movie (2019)	Saga of Tanya the Evil: The Movie (2019)	(2025/00/00): Would this have been better if it was turned into a second season? yes. Is it worth watching? also yes. This movie is leading into a second season that will probably never be released, but the unique concept makes it worth watching regardless.
8.4	Fumetsu no Anata e (2021)	To Your Eternity (2021)	(2025/00/00): What if god had down syndrome and turned into a rock for 200 years. This one is somewhat unique, in that you can't really make too many direct comparisons to other works or categorize it in a conventional genre, let's do that anyway though. If your favorite parts of Frieren were the traveling immortal person learns to be human section, then this is the anime for you. Conversely if you liked the ~~retarded~~ cool ass fight scenes, then this may not be for you. The closest genre I would put this in is adventure.
8.3	Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (2017)	Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (2017)	(2025/00/00): A solid continuation of the story. There is some great character exploration that comes to a abrupt stop at the hands of some of the most truly awful filler, primarily in the last third of the show. A filler guide is useless with this show because a lot of the "filler" is more interesting than or expands on the cannon/manga material. I will make my own filler guide in due time. If you liked Naruto and aren't a lil bitch then you will like this one.
8.29	Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku (2000)	Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman (2000)	(2025/12/10): There were parts of this that I liked, that weren't in crybaby, but I won't describe them because of spoilers, but ultimately it feels like it lacks a conclusion. I would describe this movie as good but optional, just make sure you watch the first 2 OVAs and crybaby.
8.26	Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai (2018)	Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (2018)	(2025/12/17): A good character drama with occasional supernatural shenanigans.
8.25	Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto (2025)	Secrets of the Silent Witch (2025)	(2025/00/00): An academy romance pretending to be an isekai. There were some fantasy elements like magic or whatever, but what I was watching this one for was the characters.
8.242	Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai (2025)	Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! (2025)	(2025/12/16): Competent comedy, romance and slice of life. It's very rare that a show hits even one of these correctly.
8.241	Sokushi Cheat ga Saikyou sugite, Isekai no Yatsura ga Marude Aite ni Naranai n desu ga. (2024)	My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! (2024)	(2025/00/00): This is how you make a parody/deconstruction/whatever the fuck they are calling it now. I really don't like anime series that are trying to be funny, and I really don't like series that don't take the subject matter or genre seriously. But, this one makes it so chaotic and extreme that it somehow works. It has the shoelacer story beat, they kick him out of the whatever party because he is too gay or something. It has the OP cheat skill trope, it's literally in the name of the show. He actually can kill people just by thinking about it, I don't even remember his exact ability but he pretty much has a Death Note in his head or his fingers. The world is a mish mash of SchizoTech, with medieval castles and modern skyscraper cities. It sounds like a recipe for an absolute trash heap, but the pacing and execution keep it from ever getting boring.
8.24	Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari (2013)	Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion (2013)	(2025/00/00): Fuck you shaft, this should have been a second season instead of a god damn movie. I hated this when I first saw it, but I rewatched it recently and changed my opinion on it. The pacing comes off as rushed, but I liked the direction they went with the ending. I may change my rating of this based on the walpuirshignnacht movie, if it ever gets released.
8.23	Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (2021)	Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- (2021)	(2025/00/00): One of the few memorable isekais. Follows the templates that are often used, but has really good execution (in season 1). The harem shit is cringe, as it typically is, but it occupies very little of the runtime.
8.22	Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (2016)	Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- (2016)	(2025/00/00): Better execution than most isekais, wish they would have focused on the world more than the romance between characters, but it's whatever. There is a unique twist on a genre that has been done to death. The isekai element is not the typical reincarnation as an OP supergod with abilities and memories of the previous life, so it stands out for that alone. Crucially this show minimizes the time spent on the characters previous life that no one gives a shit about(wrote this before seeing S2). There were no video game UIs and there were no video game RPG elements like leveling up skills or whatever stupid bullshit that usually pisses me off with these shows. Overacting was kinda bad at times. Not a must watch, but I think most people will like this one.
8.21	Fumetsu no Anata e Season 2 (2022)	To Your Eternity Season 2 (2022)	(2025/00/00): Slower pace than the first season, which is good, but they spend a little too much time on the epic battle. Worth watching to bridge to the third season.
8.201	Kanashimi no Belladonna (1973)	Belladonna of Sadness (1973)	(2025/00/00): You will never be ready to watch this, don't spoil it by looking up anything about it. Watch it by yourself. If you are open to experimental visuals than this may be for you. This is not for everyone, but if you are into avant-garde art then it is a must see.
8.2001	Tsuyokute New Saga (2025)	New Saga (2025)	(2025/00/00): A Fantasy Time Regression/Time travel with good execution. The tone of this show was perfect. The only thing that was questionable was the originality of the character design, but at this point I will take it. The only character that stood out visually was the girl with the North Korean Satellite Dish Hat.
8.2	Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo (2015)	Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches (2015)	(2025/00/00): A good premise with a good execution. It's got something for everyone, it's a mixed gender harem set in a highschool, it's got mind swapping and a ton of other /d/egenerate fetishes, but in a pg-13 way. I thought this show was a lot of fun. They would have raunchy a BL fanservice scene and then do a homophobic joke right afterward as if they didn't just show 2 guys doing that.
8.19	Zero no Tsukaima (2006)	The Familiar of Zero (2006)	(2025/00/00): I rewatched this recently and it still holds up. At the time I don't think I considered how novel a concept it was for a modern person to go another world that mirrors earth in the past. Essentially a mix of first contact and time travel narratives. There have since been many other series that went into more depth with this premise, but this one has the main character use a kamikaze plane from WW2 to defeat the villain so it clearly deserves a watch.
8.16	Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (2006)	The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006)	(2025/00/00): Why do all of these time travel plots focus on interactions between characters? Why don't they ever go back and buy bitcoin or a lottery ticket? Anyways this one was still pretty good.
8.15	Happy Sugar Life (2018)	Happy Sugar Life (2018)	(2025/00/00): Finally, a "dark" anime where they actually included some dark things in it. It's not the most fucked up thing in the world, but it may be too much for some of you bitch made niggas out there. They use sexual depravity as a horror element, and I think it works in this case.
8.11	Naruto Shippuden the Movie 6: Road to Ninja (2012)	Naruto Shippuden the Movie 6: Road to Ninja (2012)	(2025/00/00): Not necessary, and the story is of no consequence, but I would recommended watching it if you otherwise enjoy Shippuden. Oh no, they made Naruto an isekai.
8.1	Clevatess: Majuu no Ou to Akago to Shikabane no Yuusha (2025)	Clevatess (2025)	(2025/00/00): Thematically its a 90s style dark fantasy with modern pacing and art style. Best intro and outro theme of 2025. Explicit as you can be for a network TV show, there was plenty of blood and implied nudity/fanservice. Hopefully the bluray removes some of the censorship.
8.01	Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Oota-kun (2025)	Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota (2025)	(2025/12/20): This is a romance show that has heart. The only real downside is that it pretty much ends where it started, with no development in between. A shame because everything else about this show was pretty charming.
8.0	Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (2021)	The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat (2021)	(2025/00/00): Better than most isekai. It's not high art or anything but it was worth watching. A unique story with decent execution, the pacing was a little bit fast.
7.92	Potion, Wagami wo Tasukeru (2025)	I Saved Myself with a Potion!: Life in Another World (2025)	(2025/12/18): Technically incompetent, but unique execution. It reminds me of those low budget fairy anime from the early 2000s. They scaled the footage incorrectly, there is aliasing on the 1080p release, that's such a basic thing to fuck up. Despite all of that, the amateurish nature at least has some charm to it.
7.91	Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-manmai no Kinka wo Tamemasu (2023)	Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement (2023)	(2025/00/00): Don't be deterred by the cheap visuals and the no name studio, there is an interesting premise with good execution here. I'm not going to spoil this one beyond saying that it goes in a different direction from the isekai crowd.
7.9	Mirai Nikki (2011)	The Future Diary (2011)	(2025/00/00): A really dumb Cartoon tier plot, but good execution. This isn't high art or anything, the story goes in very dumb directions and character motivations are so unclear they are basically opaque, but I still think its worth a watch. Except for the OVA that redoes the ending, stay away from that.
7.81	Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu (2023)	A Returner's Magic Should Be Special (2023)	(2025/00/00): Excellent execution of the time regression/time travel premise. The pacing gets slower than I would like after the first couple of episodes end. I will patiently await Season 2.
7.8	Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo (2022)	Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World (2022)	(2025/00/00): A harem of 1? This show does not hide it's degeneracy, this dude just straight up buys slaves and fucks them. It's rare that a show ever has a character that is straight forwardly purely self interested, it makes a story feel more alive to have a character that is morally ambiguous.
7.7	Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e Kayou (2020)	The Misfit of Demon King Academy (2020)	(2025/00/00): I think this is what Eminence in Shadow was trying to do, but in this case they actually pulled it off. This anime comes across as a comedic deconstruction of fantasy anime that isn't obnoxious about winking at you to make sure you get the joke of how ridiculous the show is. The story at the end of season 1 was perfectly concluded as it was, and season 2 doesn't use the same voice actor for the main character.
7.61	Summertime Render (2022)	Summer Time Rendering (2022)	(2025/00/00): A decent time loop plot. The pacing was a bit slow after the first couple of episodes and it got somewhat repetitive, but it had two of my favorite contrasting elements that go really well together, darkness and optimism.
7.6	Made in Abyss Movie 3: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei (2020)	Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul (2020)	(2025/00/00): This really did not need to be in movie format. They jammed half a season worth of plot into a movie and the pacing suffered for it. In addition the story was not as interesting as the rest of the show. You should still watch this as it bridges you from season 1 to season 2, but it felt like I was waiting for the story to resume while I was watching this.
7.53	Mushoku no Eiyuu: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakatta n da ga (2025)	Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (2025)	(2025/12/10): Male audience romance under the guise of an isekai power fantasy. I almost dropped this one for being generic but it was better than initial impressions suggested.
7.52	ENDRO! (2019)	Endro! (2019)	(2025/00/00): An interesting fusion of genres, fantasy and slice of life with some comedy and CGDCT mixed in. It leans way more into the slice of life and comedy elements than being a straight fantasy anime, so if you are expecting that then you will be disappointed. I think I would have preferred that, but what we got was still pretty good. This show is very light hearted, there are almost no stakes, everything was well animated.
7.51	Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru (2024)	As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World (2024)	(2025/00/00): They spend approximately 10 seconds on the isekai element, which is about 10 seconds longer than they should have. This inoffensive fantasy show that is a little too fast paced at times, and is somewhat predictable. Not a must-see by any means but it's something you can watch in front of people who would call the police if they saw you watching Mushoku Tensei.
7.501	Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru 2nd Season (2024)	As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World Season 2 (2024)	(2025/00/00): The Hearts of Iron IV Anime, they look at maps. The pace slows down a little bit and he enters the bloomer arc. (CW: food analogy) This show is like the equivalent of eating McDonalds, there is no substance, no nutrients, but it tastes good.
7.5	Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu (2022)	Skeleton Knight in Another World (2022)	(2025/00/00): There are elements of this that I really love and some that I really hate. Explicit Video game mechanics including GUI = I wanna die pls. The dialogue at times is worse than that sword isekai, but the delivery is always solid. The reason that I have this rated so high is because it is a rare modern example of an isekai protagonist being the unambiguous good guy. The opening scene of the show is him cutting a bunch of rapers and slavers in half with his giant sword.
7.4	Steins;Gate (2011)	Steins;Gate (2011)	(2025/11/22): A somewhat interesting concept with varying levels of execution. The "humor" in this show really did not land for me most of the time. The "funny" voices that the main character does are just annoying. The pacing is good up until about the last third of S1, which is further than most shows, I will give it that. One good thing that did, is that they answered the first question I always have with anything related to time travel. Why didn't any of the characters buy a lottery ticket/bitcoin/stocks?
7.3	Naruto: Shippuuden (2007)	Naruto: Shippuuden (2007)	(2025/00/00): Expands on the interesting philosophy and mythology of the series that is already well defined. The first half of this show is on par with the original in terms of quality, the second half is so bad that you only watch just to see how it ends. Filler guide is required.
7.29	Mizu Zokusei no Mahoutsukai (2025)	The Water Magician (2025)	(2025/00/00): Great Value Frieren. The only reason to watch this is if you have already seen Frieren. The premise is nearly the same, an immortal wanders the land, except this show has even less direction, which is not an inherently bad thing if handled correctly, but the execution felt very rushed and was all over the place. The penultimate episode was an introduction of a character that we had never seen before and didn't care about, and it builds up to him getting angry and yelling at the main character in last episode. Wow, now that's storytelling.
7.27	Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! (2025)	A Wild Last Boss Appeared! (2025)	(2025/12/21): This had such an interesting and unique premise that was ruined by some of the worst pacing issues that I’ve seen in a while. Half of the episodes in this felt like filler and in a series that's only 12 episodes long that is a problem. Hopefully season 2 is not as terribly paced.
7.26	Isekai Mokushiroku Mynoghra: Hametsu no Bunmei de Hajimeru Sekai Seifuku (2025)	Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra: World Conquest Starts with the Civilization of Ruin (2025)	(2025/00/00): An isekai based on Civ type 4X games instead of DQ, finally something different. Had an interesting premise and started out strong, they introduced some stupid enemy in the last third that no one cared about, hopefully season 2 doesn't focus on this and instead stays on Mynoghra's interaction with existing nations in the world.
7.25	Hametsu no Oukoku (2023)	The Kingdoms of Ruin (2023)	(2025/00/00): I liked the unique theme and tone, we don't get too many convincingly dark revenge stories anymore. The execution was not the best, it really is baffling how some of these shows that are only 12 episodes total can spin their wheels on some nonsense.
7.24	Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai shitemo Yoroshii deshou ka (2025)	May I Ask for One Final Thing? (2025)	(2025/12/19): Battle shoujo, and a decent one at that. Takes an unexpected turn in the middle.
7.21	Yuusha, Yamemasu (2022)	I'm Quitting Heroing (2022)	(2025/00/00): This one had a very unique premise and story. I don't want to spoil too much but the story is not as derivative as it would first appear. The ending is terrible and makes absolutely no sense though. It leaves the show without any sense of conclusion, but that's to be expected from an anime.
7.202	Seija Musou: Salaryman, Isekai de Ikinokoru Tame ni Ayumu Michi (2023)	The Great Cleric (2023)	(2025/00/00): An interesting premise, this show strays from the typical isekai plot in some entertaining ways, and follows it in some of the worst ways. Why do they need to add explicit video game mechanics like a leveling system and the UI menus. This show is probably the closest to what I want to see in a magical healing anime, you know the character actually fucking going around healing people.
7.201	Akuyaku Reijou Level 99: Watashi wa Ura-Boss desu ga Maou dewa Arimasen (2024)	Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord (2024)	(2025/00/00): Opens with terrible choppy CGI straight outta 1995, off to a great start. The pacing was very good and it was story driven as opposed to repetitive battles every episode. A fresh take on this stupid-ass genre, which I understand they have to put it in for it to be financially viable. I wish there was a second season of this.
7.2	Perfect Blue (1998)	Perfect Blue (1998)	(2025/00/00): It's a madhouse film so it looks great as you would expect. The story is engaging for the first 2/3 and then it takes a really stupid and unsatisfying turn towards the end. I am not going to spoil it beyond that.

(2020)	The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior (2020)	(2025/00/00): My original review consisted of "SchizoTech with an interesting premise, good execution, good pacing. Not a lot of action in this one." I am importing this review from MAL 3-4 months later and I do not remember a thing about this show, and I remember watching filler episodes of dragon ball Z 20 years ago where goku and piccolo needed to get their drivers licenses. I guess I liked this one? I couldn't tell you. I might rewatch it when the second season comes out.
7.0	Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season (2020)	Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 (2020)	(2025/00/00): Has some of the better episodes of the whole series, that are sandwiched in between some bullshit. Animation quality is very bad at times. Has a lot of repetitive scenes and arcs that feel like they go nowhere.

The side quest where Anya is trying to stop a dog from running away is more engaging then whatever repetitive nonsense is happening at the royal academy. I am fine with the academy stuff being unresolved at the end of Season 1 if it's being used as a vehicle for the plot as a whole, but Season 2 better have more going on.
6.8	Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou wa, Moto Tekikoku de Jiyuu Kimama na Hanayome Seikatsu wo Mankitsu suru (2024)	7.th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! (2024)	(2025/00/00): These otome villainess isekai anime are so similar I can not tell them apart, but this one is the best out of the ones that I have seen so far, I think. It does have some levity, but not the obnoxious=funny kind of humour. No academy arc shenanigans, thank god. A large part of the story focuses on romance, which I didn't mind. The character design ranges from bad to generic. If you like female centered romance and you also like battle shounen style combat, then maybe check this out, it's not a must see.
6.73	Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu 2nd Season (2024)	Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Season 2 (2024)	(2025/00/00): Abandons a lot of what made Season 1 interesting to instead focus on some war that the main character doesn't even give a shit about. To avoid spoiling it I will just say they could have handled it a lot better than they did. Hopefully season 3 will return to the interesting story that season 1 had.
6.72	Ore wa Seikan Kokka no Akutoku Ryoushu! (2025)	I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire! (2025)	(2025/00/00): Doesn't look there is going to be a home release for this so you are stuck with a WEB-DL for now. Let me summarize the gimmick, he does something "evil", but previous rulers in the universe were so evil that he is altruistically good by comparison. He has a harem of 20 women? Previous kings had hundreds of women in their harem, he is so modest in comparison. There was some cool mecha shit, I have the feeling the author just wanted to make a mecha manga/anime, but put in the isekai elements so it would be financially viable.
6.712	Redline (2009)	Redline (2009)	(2025/00/00): It's a madhouse production, so if nothing else you can expect it to have good visuals. In this case I don't think they even pretended to give a shit about the story, they wanted to make a movie about racing and vehicular combat and that's what they did. As a result, any scene that doesn't revolve around cars driving feels redundant and like filler.

This show is not a thoughtful work of art that leaves a lasting impression, but it was entertaining enough to keep my attention. They recognized that people were not going to give a shit about this retarded excuse for a plot and kept things going at a breakneck pace and that is probably why I didn't hate this one.

Do they do anything interesting with that premise? not really. There was really bad pacing where a lot of nothing happened after the first few episodes.

I hate deconstructions so much, "get it guys? aren't isekai plots so nonsensical? What if we made a show with a plot that made no sense, we are so quirky xD."
6.6	Tensei shitara Ken deshita (2022)	Reincarnated as a Sword (2022)	(2025/00/00): This shit is fucking trash but the good kind of trash that is entertaining, where you will be laughing at how ridiculous it is. The isekai elements are only given 10 seconds of the show's runtime, thankfully. There are radical levels of exposition that leave nothing up to interpretation and that tested my patience constantly. If they had cut the sword's monologue by 90% and got rid of the video game GUI I could possibly have recommended this one unironically. I am not sure if they were leaning into every trope of the genre as a statement or if they felt uninspired and didn't give a shit, but it was entertainingly bad for the first 3 or so episodes, I could not take my eyes off of the shitshow. But, after the show switched focus towards the character who is arguably the actual MC, it became a lot more tolerable. This show left me with a very bad first impression, but it was entertaining the whole way through. Catgirl racism saves the day + she tried to fuck a sword.
6.5	Around 40 Otoko no Isekai Tsuuhan (2025)	The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World (2025)	(2025/00/00): He drives a car through medieval europe. He has the super power of getting amazon delivered to the past. It sounds stupid because it is, but it was fun to watch. A half-interesting half-comedic premise, decent execution.
6.4	Isshun de Chiryou shiteita noni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer toshite Tanoshiku Ikiru (2025)	The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows (2025)	(2025/00/00): Interesting premise, switches up the story and turns into a weird crime drama and then turns into an espionage thriller. I don't particularly care for those genres, I wanted to see a show based around healing magic, so this doesn't get a very high rating from me. The way most of the supporting characters act is extremely annoying and gets old very fast.
6.31	Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä (1984)	Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)	(2025/00/00): If you have ever seen any narrative work of fiction before or you are above the age of 5, then you can probably predict, beat by beat, where this "story" is going, it's among the most simplistic I have ever seen in a work of fiction. The story in this is so optimistic that it could have only come from Showa era Japan. This story would make a Disney movie seem dark and complex by comparison. The visuals were decent for the era. The voice acting was good in both the original and the English Dub that has Piccard and Luke Skywalker as voice actors.

This one is only like 45 minutes, it would have a much lower rating had it crossed that hour mark.

It's a slightly above average slice of life that has an eternity of buildup just to lead to a single kiss. People act like they fucked and then she gave birth to a three-eyed incest baby, which would have been hilarious and resulted in this having a much higher rating from me.

6.21	Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki Part 2 (2022)	How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Part 2 (2022)	(2025/00/00): Basically had the same thoughts for this that I did with season 1. Who was this made for? I don't think the average isekai watcher is going to be interested in palace politics, or maybe they will be. The premise was moderately interesting and the execution was mediocre.
6.2	Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki (2021)	How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (2021)	(2025/00/00): This show is Neoliberal propaganda. This is probably the strangest isekai story I have seen, even stranger than the vending machine one. He gets isekaid and turned into a technocratic monarch. There's some harem shit too, but they don't get degenerate enough for it to be entertaining in that aspect. Don't let that description oversell how good this show is, it was honestly very boring.

The writers seem to think that playing every trope and cliche as straight as possible is what makes something funny, and it works sometimes, like with his engrish catchphrase, but most of the time it is just terrible. The interesting parts of the story are seeing how his various alternate identities interact with each other and the characters that he has interacted with as other versions of himself. Unfortunately that makes up maybe 1/3 of the runtime, while the rest is given to royal academy nonsense that you could get in any other anime. Overrated.
6.04	Steins;Gate 0 (2018)	Steins;Gate 0 (2018)	(2025/12/12): Glacial pacing. This does not expand on the story in any meaningful way. I would say skip this one.
6.03	Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu (2024)	I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability (2024)	(2025/00/00): Boku no pico + mahou shoujo = whatever this is. This show has the most egregious fan service I have seen in any piece of media. The pacing was the only good thing in this, they move on before anything starts to get dull and that's probably the only reason I even finished this. The character was clearly supposed to be a girl, but they just made him a boy for no reason? If you only care about seeing epic fight scenes then I guess you could watch this, I don't really recommend it though.

The idea of essentially having an akashic record, a source of infinite knowledge, during the medieval era, in the form of a smartphone, and what do they do with this premise? Generic isekai harem shit, demi humans, slaves, imperial politics. I wanted to see the dark ages cult of the cell phone, not wife collector episode 12.

They have to stop nazi vampires from nuking the world or something. I don't give a shit about spoiling this one, it's fucking retarded anyways. The story would be the weakest episode if it were part of the main series. they also forgot to put on the scanline filter. Not even worth watching.

Decent execution at first and then the story took a stupid direction with the cartoon villain. Would have also liked the pace to slow down somewhat. The villain felt generic and like a waste of time, honestly there didn't need to be a villain character in this show.
5.46	Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (2025)	The Summer Hikaru Died (2025)	(2025/00/00): A horror anime that isn't even slightly scary. This one was very technically competent, all the visuals were great, the acting was good, but the story was not very engaging at all. There are horror movies that aren't scary, but are still entertaining for some other reason, and this doesn't even achieve that.
5.45	Eiyuuou, Bu wo Kiwameru Tame Tenseisu: Soshite, Sekai Saikyou no Minarai Kishi♀ (2023)	Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire ♀ (2023)	(2025/00/00): Dainanaoji but with swordsmanship instead of magic, an truly novel character motivation. if you like seeing sword fights and don't give shit about anything else then maybe check this out, otherwise I would say this one is safe to skip.

Ends with a showdown of the big bad demon lord blah blah blah blah blah blah. The only terrible looking CGI in the show was the horses and the carriage for some reason, its like an inside joke to have bad horses and carriages in anime now. There is also some really weird siscon shit, and not in a comedic way.

An overdone theme executed in a mediocre and forgettable fashion. Pretentious surface level regurgitation of a Philosophy 101 lecture. This show really thought it was the next Death Note.

Started out with a somewhat interesting premise, pacing went to shit in the middle of the show and then the plot went nowhere and the show abruptly ended. If they release an OVA or a second season or something to conclude this then maybe I will bump this up a point or 2, but as it stands now don't bother watching this.

The premise is terrible, the plot is terrible, the music is terrible, the characters are the definition of generic. There are consistently impressive visuals throughout the movie though, it is a Madhouse production after all. At 79 minutes, it's not unbearable. If this were half an hour longer I would have issues with it.

There are shows where nothing happens and it's still entertaining but this isn't one of them. This whole show felt like filler that occurs when an anime is ahead of the manga and they have to pause the actual story for some bullshit. Reminds me of Dragonball when goku starts collecting sidekicks as if they are pokemon, but without any of the charm.

Would not recommend anyone watch this. How is this show in the top 200 on MAL, people on that site are smoking Crackula.

Even with OVA, it's only 2 hours of your time completely wasted.
