Score---- Category--- Box Art Name Initial Thoughts
9.6 Music In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998) - Neutral Milk Hotel (2025/11/30): This was the first album that I heard that really got me to look deeper into music than what was being played on the radio. I didn't listen to this type of music back then, and I still don't really. My closest point of comparison to this release is something like Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, just because they both use primarily acoustic guitars. The first thing that stands out on this album is the vocals, I have never heard a single track vocal that sounds as complete as this album. The slow, expressive melodies are some of the best as well. If you don't sing along to this album, you may not have a soul, I am sorry to tell you.
9.0 Music Paranoid (1970) - Black Sabbath (2025/11/29): This album would be a no skip if not for Diesel Power, it's just too cheesy. I don't even know what genre to put this release in other than Late 90s, on one song it's metal, on the next it's industrial hip hop, but all of them have a strong techno beat underneath. This is the sonic equivalent of The Matrix, which is probably why they included a song from this album on The Matrix's soundtrack. I think the point of this album is to take drugs and jump along to the beat.
9.1 Music The Fat of the Land (1997) - Prodigy (2025/11/29): This album would be a no skip if not for Diesel Power, it's just too cheesy.
8.8 Music Nonagon Infinity (2016) - King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard (2025/11/29): The production and songwriting is impressive, with every song flowing into the next, almost like the whole thing was recorded in one take. This is like anti-metal, they play these dark psychedelic riffs on the cleanest guitars possible with the least amount of distortion. The runtime on this release is technically infinite.
8.7 Music Nespithe (1993) - Demilich (2025/11/28): The vocals consistently sound like someone burping and farting into the microphone, genuinely the only reason this album didn't break 9.0 was because of the vocals. The instrumental sections were actually very interesting on this. Melodically there are a lot of dark and dissonant sections laden with chromaticism, that defies easily labeling the songs in a certain key. Rhythmically the whole album is composed in odd meter with about 2-3 abrupt meter and tempo changes per minute. A very technically competent album that avoids going into the wank category. The production is very grainy at times, like they recorded some of the guitar tracks on a consumer grade cassette or something.
9.99 Music Homogenic (1997) - Björk/Bjork (2025/11/28): Blends classical strings with Techno 909 beats and IDM production. This is a post-genre work that can only be categorized as Björk. This release directly conveys emotions with direct and intense imagery, no pretense.
8.4 Music Leviathan (2004) - Mastodon (2025/11/27): Signifies a movement away from what they were doing in Today is the Day, but you can still hear a lot of that in what they were doing here. They stripped most of the punk elements out of this release, but it still retains a lot of the sludge metal sound that they brought to In The Eyes of God. This album does have a more stoner and bluesy vibe, which I am always a fan of. I never gave this band a chance because I confused them with Sabaton.
3.4 Movies The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) (2025/11/27): This is basically just a verbatim copy of the story of the first conjuring movie, with all of the weaknesses, and even less strengths than the first movie. Unserious, terrible looking, CGI monsters attack the warren family as Ed is pulled out of retirement for one last job. ZOMG NOSTALGIA-esque period piece, that tries to use a stylized meta-nostalgia for 2000s era 80s nostalgia to distract you from the lack of anything interesting in this movie.
6.8 Music Alexander O'Neal (1985) - Alexander O'Neal (2025/11/26): 1980s love songs. Listening to this made me want to put on some Zapp and Roger. There were some interesting parts with instruments atypical to this genre, but overall it was simply good, not great.
9.8 Music Undertow (1993) - Tool (2025/11/26): Sonically, this has the best production of any album I have ever heard. The Rickenbacker and Les Paul dance at 200mph with half an inch between them but never step on eachothers' toes. The songwriting here is their strongest, with every song having a strong and unique melody. I don't mind over the top darkness or brightness in art, as long as it feels genuine and it does feel genuine on this release. This album could only have come out in the 90s.
9.37 Anime Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! \ WataMote: No Matter How I Look At It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular! (2013) (2025/11/25): I think watching this show is the most I have laughed at any piece of media. There is not really an overarching plot, or a conclusive ending, but it honestly would have just been a waste of time if they had tried to force one into this show. The main character is pathetic, embarrassing and cringe, and the whole show is you laughing at the constant stream of unforced errors.
9.7 Music The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) - Pink Floyd (2025/11/25): If anyone is out there who hasn't heard this album then just go listen to it. Who would think that a dark, psychedelic, artsy, prog-rock album would be the one of the most popular albums of all time. I guess that's a relic of when people were still doing LSD before cocaine took over. This is the perfect kind of progressive music, that displays talent without turning into "wank" that a lot of prog ends up being.
6.41 Music When the Kite String Pops (1994) - Acid Bath (2025/11/25): Even if the song structure is not great, there are a couple of songs that have some interesting sections in them. I'm always a fan of blues riffs played on loud guitars, which are found on some of the songs on this album. The vocals are good in some of the clean sections, the thick Louisiana accent comes through clear as day, but the screaming parts are so bad. It sounds like a plantation owner trying to do a Wayne Static impression. Not bad, but overrated.
4.7 Movies V/H/S/Halloween (2025) (2025/11/24): By far the weakest entry in the series, I would say skip this one even if you like this series. There were a couple of moderately entertaining scenes, but there was nothing scary in this.
2.1 Music OK Computer (1997) - Radiohead (2025/11/24): Muse for people who hate women. Listen to Karma Police and No Surprises, then discard the rest of this album. There was nothing interesting happening on this album, harmonically, melodically, tonally, thematically or narratively.
6.5 Music Boris at Last -Feedbacker- (2003) - Boris (2025/11/23): Just listen to Alice by Sunn 0))) instead. This was listed as drone metal so I expected something like Amplifier worship or Sunn O))), but I think this has more in common with a post-metal band like Deafheaven or even a post-rock band like Godspeed you Black Emperor, than this does with their earlier releases. Mislabeling aside, this album sounds like it was recorded with the microphone physically distant from the instruments. It gives the album a really detached vibe and sound. Do they use that interesting sound to convey anything interesting melodically? No not really. The whole release sounds like one of the ambient sections from F#A#.
7.4 Anime Steins;Gate (2011) (2025/11/22): A somewhat interesting concept with varying levels of execution. The "humor" in this show really did not land for me most of the time. The "funny" voices that the main character does are just annoying. The pacing is good up until about the last third of S1, which is further than most shows, I will give it that. One good thing that did, is that they answered the first question I always have with anything related to time travel. Why didn't any of the characters buy a lottery ticket/bitcoin/stocks?
9.9 Music F#A#∞ (2002) - Godspeed You Black Emperor! (2025/11/22): This album is like waking up after a bomb was dropped on your house. Pure atmosphere. Lots of melody. Every part of this had something interesting to say.
6.3 Music Panopticon (2004) - Isis (2025/11/21): When I was looking at the information on this album I saw that the genre was listed as sludge metal and thought I was going to get something like Today is the day or Eyehategod, but I think a more accurate label for this, would be something similar to alternative metal. The instrumentals on this album sound like they could have been pulled from a Deftones or A Perfect Circle album. That said, I do actually like the sound of the instrumentation on this album, but the song writing leaves a lot to be desired. I would use the word meandering to describe the overall song structure. The vocal style clashes heavily with the rest of the music, thankfully the vocals are very sparse on this release.
5.3 Music Blackwater Park (2001) - Opeth (2025/11/20): The band members are all technically proficient on this album, and that's about the only nice thing I have to say about this release. I wasn't put off by the cookie monster death metal vocals, I like other albums that have that style of vocals, but they get repetitive rather quickly. The dynamic switching between loud death metal sections and a more quiet introspective section sounds good in theory, but in practice it's just one song stopping and another starting, there is very little cohesion between the different sections of each song. The primary thing that I could not get over was the deemphasis on melody and harmony, there was very little music in this album.
9.8 Anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu / The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (2010) (2025/11/20): Damn.

Watch the first 2 seasons in broadcast order then watch this movie, it doesn't work as a standalone. Don't lookup any information on this series, just watch it.
9.24 Anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu / The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009) (2025/11/20): Even with a retarded or non existant premise, god tier execution can carry a show to the top. I can see why the execution would be divisive at the least, but I am a fan of how they did it. I am not going to spoil this one any more than that. Watch it in release order.
6.7 Movies Sarah's Oil (2025) (2025/11/19): The emotional manipulation was so transparent that it didn't bother me, as I was able to ignore it. Jim Crow as told by Disney. The narrativization was thankfully left mostly to the character interactions and the historic aspects of the film were mostly unmolested. I wonder how long it will take for this style of movie to fall out of fashion, if it hasn't already.
9.23 Anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu / The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2006) (2025/11/18): Incoherent. I accidentally watched DVD2 first and when I went back and watched the episodes in the correct order it didn't really make a difference to the story. I finished this anime and still don't know what this show was about, what the premise was or what the genre was, but it was entertaining from start to finish.
9.4 Movies Inland Empire (2006) (2025/10/31): David Lynch's masterpiece. The Criterion version of this is using a terrible AI upscale, go for the older Bluray version if you can. Don't look up anything more about this film, just go watch it when you have 3 spare hours.
9.2 Music The Piper at the
Gates of Dawn (1967) -
Pink Floyd
(2025/10/30): See I like happy sounding albums too, as long as the emotions conveyed come across as genuine. One of my favorite examples of psychedelic rock. This album proves that you can be mysterious and eccentric without needing to be dark all of the time. This album works great as an album from start to finish or broken up into individual songs. Any song on this album could have been the single, except the one where they make bird noises into the microphone for the entire song. Also the stereo mix sucks make sure you are listening to the Mono version.
8.8 Movies Hausu (1977) (2025/10/30): Wouldn't even classify this as a horror movie, other than tropes it employs. I think it was trying to be genuine a psychedelic horror, but through the language barrier and all the lsd I'm can't say that for certain. But what I can say for certain is that this movie is chaotic, surreal and a lot of fun. If you aren't afraid of weird shit then it's a must see.
10.0 Movies 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) (2025/10/29): This really doesn't feel like a 60 year old movie. The visual effects in this film look better than a majority of the films shot today. The antagonist of this story is among the most mysterious in all of fiction. The score is iconic to the point of being a meme. If you haven't seen this movie I would recommend doing no further research and just watching it. Kubrick films are considered the best for a reason.
10.0 Music Geogaddi (2002) -
Boards of Canada
(2025/10/29): Go for the japanese version if you can, it has a nice bonus track. Not a dull moment or track. Dark-Psychedelic, ambient, electronic. This is an album that works best as an album, if you break it down into tracks there's only like 2 or 3 tracks that I think work as standalone piece, Sunshine Recorder, 1969, You could feel the sky and From one source all things depend could go on a shuffle playlist, but you should definitely listen to this from start to finish in 1 go for your first time.
10.0 Anime gdgd Fairies 2 (2013) (2025/01/01): They actually made the second season even better than the first. I am not even sure if this qualifies as an anime, as it's mostly 3DCG, but if does then it is one of the best. When you think of surreal media it is usually in the horror or a horror adjacent genre, but the closest conventional genre you could assign to this would be comedy.
9.9 Anime Azumanga Daiou The Animation (2002) (2025/01/01): If your favorite part of pulp fiction was the dialogue scenes, then this may become your favorite anime. Nothing happens in this anime. I think the highest stakes event that happens is that Chiyo-chan graduates from high school (spoiler alert). Also a running gag in the show is their pedophilic teacher tries to molest them repeatably, and its played for laughs. Japan moment.
9.7 Anime Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete / Gushing over Magical Girls(2024) (2025/01/01): You don't see a penis in this show so it's technically not porn. This borderline hentai series has the best story of any mahou shoujo anime. So yeah I am watching this one for the plot. If you live in a bathtub with your family and can only watch anime on the family TV in front of everyone, then maybe avoid this one, but I thought the characters felt like they had a lot of depth to them.
9.61 Anime Oniichan wa Oshimai! / Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!(2023) (2025/01/01): Transgender propaganda. The only part of this that I didn't like were both of the creepy older sister characters. Other than that it is a funny slice of life that focuses on a college age male turned into JC age female, who has a chance to go back in life and do things right.
9.6 Anime Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 / Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 (2021) (2025/01/01): Even if you didn't like the first 36 episodes for some reason, it's worth it just to get to this part of the story. Do not spoil it for yourself by trying to get more information, just go watch it, after watching the first 3 parts first.
9.5 Anime Mushoku Tensei: Isekai
Ittara Honki Dasu (2021) /
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless
Reincarnation (2021)
(2025/01/01): What a stupid fucking name for an anime, in english and in japanese. Jobless Honkey Desu. This anime will make every other isekai seem shitty in comparison. There was only a single moment of bizarre 3DCG wheat in a field but, other than that, the visuals are some of the best of this century. They take the important parts of the story seriously, without those fucking terrible marvel tier quips that every isekai has now. The tone of this one reminds me of a lot of early 2000s anime. Degenerate.
9.45 Anime Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu / Legend of the Galactic Heroes (1988) (2025/01/01): Some things live up to the hype. I think the only genre that isn't covered in this anime is fantasy, they even got some BL action going on. I won't spoil it beyond that though. Everything was extremely fleshed out, they actually used those 110 episodes to go deep in the plot, instead of spinning their wheels with stupid shit. I do wish there was less exposition and narration, but it was minor enough.
9.4 Anime Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World / Kino's Journey (2003) (2025/01/01): Allegories so direct that they become surreal, Kino's dark adventure. The desaturation, the intentional lack of BGM for a lot of the scenes and the sparse dialogue give this show a very unique atmosphere that is unmistakably mid 2000s despite being in 16:9. I did not notice any terrible looking 3DCG, this whole anime looked great in terms of animation, color and visuals. The scanline filter is a strange choice to make considering most TVs in 2003 would have been CRTs, but it gives the show a unique look. skip the 2007 OVA.
9.35 Anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica / Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011) (2025/01/01): Girls doing magic with a slightly more mature plot, but tastefully done and not needlessly dark/misery porn. The characters have motivations for all of their actions. Must see for all.
9.3 Anime Yuru Yuri / YuruYuri: Happy Go Lily (2011) (2025/01/01): If Azumanga was so good, why didn't they make an Azumanga 2? I was kinda sad when this show ended, its like finding out your close friend is going to another middle school and they say some shit like, "oh we can still hangout outside of school." Even though you both know damn well that's not going to happen and instead you are just going to drift apart. What was I talking about again? oh yeah yuruyuri. This show is consistently good, with maybe a slight dip in the last season.
9.25 Anime Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou / Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (2022) (2025/01/01): Much better pacing than the first season, while keeping all of the strengths. People are exaggerating how "dark" and "depressing" the tone of this show is. Maybe if you are like 6 and can't live with seeing a fictional character die. Some people did not watch Dark Crystal or Labyrinth as kids, and it shows.
9.22 Anime Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (2010) (2025/01/01): This show is like if the powerpuff girls spoke japanese and had a newgrounds tier sense of humor. This is the anime equivalent of Rawhide Kobayashi, the ameriboo anime. The official release of the first season actually hurts my eyes to look at (not in a figure of speech way, like actually literally gives me a headache), so the only way I can recommend watching this is the 40GB release uploaded by DarkDream787 on Nyaa.
9.21 Anime Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) (2025/01/01): Peak battle shounen. Other than a very out of place shot in OP1 there is no terrible looking 3DCG. Despite the somewhat extensive episode count, there wasn't anything in the story that was noticeably filler. This show is less faithful to the manga than FMA:Brotherhood, but I think it is actually better than brotherhood, if you aren't counting the movie. This does suffer from not having a satisfying ending, but the manga wasn't finished when this anime ended, so what can you do.
9.2 Anime gdgd Fairies (2011) (2025/01/01): This show is like radiation in that it is fun in small bursts, but I don't recommend sitting down and binging it all in one day. If Xavier Renegade Angel was moe, it would be called gdgd Fairies. I would actually recommend watching season 2 first, and then season 1 and the movie if you want to see more after that. There is no overarching plot in this show, except for like 2 episodes in season 2. Also, the animation is primitive and restrictive, they move like animatronics for most of S1.
9.19 Anime gdgd Fairies Movie: tte Iu Eiga wa Dou kana...? (2014) (2025/01/01): You can watch this at any point in the series and it will make the same amount of sense. The runtime is a bit excessive, this format definitely works better as a 10 minute TV show.
9.11 Anime Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi / A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof (2025) (2025/01/01): Bleak and hilarious. Surreal slice of life comedy that treats life as disposable. There is some weird fetish shit that comes across as comedic. Boobmog
9.1 Anime Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan / Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (2005) (2025/01/01): Quintessential edgy mid 2000s comedy. Extremely graphic in terms of gore, not very sexually explicit, despite being labeled as ecchi on MAL, I think there was only 1 scene where a towel dropped when she was getting out of the shower or something. Only downside is how short it is, only 6 episodes including the second OVA. Make sure your version has either 6 25~ minute episodes or 12 12 minute episodes. You have to be on amphetamines to really get the humor.
9.02 Anime Kimi no Na wa. / Your Name. (2016) (2025/01/01): My first impression was that this was going to be some stupid tiktok influencer, MALcore type shit, but I was pleasently surprised. This is probably the best execution of the body swap premise.
9.01 Anime Takopii no Genzai / Takopi's Original Sin (2025) (2025/01/01): A light hearted family friendly comedy, perfect for dog lovers =^). I am glad that there are mainstream anime that aren't afraid of showing fucked up shit. This show strikes a good balance between tragic and dark comedy with takopii's commentary on the fucked up shit happening around him. They ending is genuinely infuriating (I might explain why in a full review but I don't want to spoil this show), but even still the first half of this show earned it a high spot on my list for sure.
9.0 Anime Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu / Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 (2023) (2025/01/01): Perfect pacing, action slows down a bit and it goes back to being primarily about the characters. The show starts to pick back up and gets really good here. This is one of the few royal academy arcs that I didn't hate in an anime. This show has a retarded and confusing naming convention, each season so far has been split up into 2 cours of 12 episodes for each cour, so this is the third cour of the series.
8.9 Anime Sousou no Frieren / Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (2023) (2025/01/01): Kill demons, behead demons, roundhouse kick a demon into the concrete. Very good visuals, the bad CGI is far and few between. The tone of the show is perfect, they take it seriously when they should and play it for laughs when they should. For some inexplicable reason this show has a dramatic tone shift near the end of Season 1 and it turns into the chuunin exams, ie battle shounen junk. Let's hope Season 2 has less of this and has more of the cool elf doing adventure shit.
9.881 Anime Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) / There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... (2025) (2025/01/01): The best JK Yuri I have seen so far, yuruyuri does not count. Not so degenerate that you couldn't watch it in front of other people, other than the bathtub scene.
8.8 Anime Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi / Redo of Healer (2021) (2025/01/01): Was getting raped part of your plan? Of course. Why does this porn anime have a better plot than 90% of regular stuff. This has a satisfying dark revenge plot that lacks conclusion in an apparent lead in to a second season that will probably never come. I would have preferred if they escalated the romance into ecchi territory, but let's not let good be the enemy of perfect or whatever that one saying is. The ending was kind of stupid and abrupt, but lets see where they go with it in Season 2.
8.7 Anime Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 / Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 (2021) (2025/01/01): The weakest part of the series for sure. Would have preferred if they took their time and fleshed out some of the places that they were exploring some more. Still has a lot of the strengths that Season 1 had, and it is necessary to watch this to bridge to season 2. There were only a couple of interesting moments that I remember from this cour.
8.65 Anime Devilman: Crybaby (2018) (2025/01/01): Preserves the pulpy feel of the older debiruman series, with modern animation style and pacing. When I saw that Netflix logo at the beginning I wanted to turn this shit off, but I am glad I didn't. There is surprisingly graphic nudity in this, like early 90's OVA type shit, I think you see one of the main character's hoohah, but I don't get the impression that the nudity was meant to be sexual, I believe it was meant to be more disturbing than anything else. man man man man man man, human.
8.64 Anime Food Court de, Mata Ashita. / See You Tomorrow at the Food Court (2025) (2025/01/01): Genre: KFC, Slice of Chicken. If you like shows where nothing happens, but there is entertaining dialogue, then this may be the show for you. The whole show is 2 JK age friends meeting up in a mall food court and talking about the most random shit. There is a random scene where indian men catch a stray for some reason, maybe the author hates them idk.
I'm not going to bother importing the rest, just sort by oldest in the anime tab and look at 2025/01/01 if you want to see them

Yes I did do the HTML myself how could you tell?
